This trekking trail is a part of the ancient salt caravan route used by the locals of Jumla and Mugu areas to trade with Tibet via Namja Pass of Mugu. The trek gives an oppertunity to explore Mugompa people lifestyle. Mugompa people are ethnic Tibetan people having Mugom-Karmarong language influenced from Sino-Tibetan language.

Best Time to Trek
The best time to undertake the Mugu Jumla Wilderness Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. During these times, the weather is relatively stable, and the skies are clear, offering the best views of the mountains and landscapes.

Preparation and Permits
Physical Fitness: This trek is considered strenuous and requires a good level of physical fitness and stamina.
Permits: Trekkers need to obtain the necessary permits, including the Rara national park permit and restricted area permits.
Join with Agency: To trek in this region A Trekking Agency is must to operate and organize your trek. Without joining with agency, you will not get trekking permit of the region. Possibly local Trekking agency with good experience in the field of tourism like Tibet Holidays is recommended.
