The Everest Kangshung Face trek starting from Kharta valley is among one of most amazing treks that takes you through the amazing pastures and colorful meadows full of flowers. The trekking starts from the Khatra and takes you to the top at the Everest Kangshung Face going through the beautiful Karma Valley. This amazing trek not only offers you a lot of thrill but also the majestic view of the peaks covered with snow including Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu. The trip also lets you explore the sacred land of Tibet.

Kharta Valley Trek is one of the most exciting Himalayan treks that you would want to take in this part of the world. There are lots of attractions that make this trek so unique and popular among the trekkers. You have lush green grasslands and beautiful lakes all along the trek. It is among the lesser known treks and thus there is a lesser crowd as compared to some of the other treks. The trip offers you the stunning view of the beautiful peaks like Gauri Shankar, Menlungtse, Shishapangma, Cho Oyu, Everest, Makalu and more. You also got to explore the monasteries, palaces and temples in the city of Lhasa.

Today you have half day of Kathmandu world heritage sites such as Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath temple, Darbar Square, Patan and Swoyambhunath stupa. After that we will have short briefing about the trip and also introduction among crews and guide.

Today the journey starts for Kailash starting from 5 AM in the morning, Breakfast will be packed from the hotel as we need get immigration formalities on time at the border and also we have a bit rough and tough way to get border on the hillside driving in Nepal side. Once we reached at the border our representative will help to pass through immigration both Nepal and China side. Then further further 60km drive to Kyirong will be commenced.

Drive five hours to Kharta, enjoying beautiful views from the Pang La (17000) towards Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and Shisapangma (if weather is clear). Drive down the Dzakaa Chu and then the Phung Chu valley toward Kharta. We'll make camp after the boarding school on the banks of the Kharta Tsangpo river, the headwaters of Nepal's Arun River. Camp

Begin Trek. Hike up the Kharta Tsangpo valley past several villages. The trail to the Shao La leaves the Kharta valley and climbs steadily up a side valley to the south. We'll camp either at the beginning of this climb on a ledge overlooking the valley and its villages or continue up the side valley following a small stream for another two hours to camp on meadows by the stream (14,000) (4 hours hiking). Ascend steadily over rocky ground to reach the Shao La. Once at the top of the pass we descend for about an hour and then descend steeply to the valley below. At once the scene changes from barren rock slopes to lush rhododendrons, birch, and willow trees. Continue one hour down this valley to camp.

Hike steeply through rhododendron forests to reach the high pastures above the Kama River. On clear days, we'll see splendid views of Everest and Lhotse. We continue to traverse alpine meadows and pass yak herders' camps and a serene green lake to a campsite on a large meadow with great views of the Khangshung Valley. (5 hours hiking). Camp

Hike up a ridge and then down to the Kama River coming from the Langma La. After wading across the river we enter the Khangshung Valley, a wide valley drained by the Khangshung stream. A receding glacier has left behind wide undulating hill now covered by a thick growth of willow, rhododendron, juniper, and other shrubs. Camp at the meadow called Pethang.

Hike steeply up onto a large rockslide. The views of Makalu and the incredible upheaval caused by the Chomolonzo glaciers are amazing. After the rockslide the trail traverses around the mountainside to reach a beautiful glade, locally called Okpo or Hoppo. Continue hiking up meadows of lateral moraine with views of Everest, Lhotse, and Tserse to reach camp

Optional day hikes up the Khangshung Valley alongside the glacier to the base camp used by expeditions attempting the east face of Everest. Camp

Retrace our steps down the valley along the Khangshung Glaciers, across the rockslide opposite the Chomolonzo glacier, and past Pethang to a stream crossing at the Raabka Chu. After that hike steadily uphill, steeply at first to a shelf above the river, then another hour across relatively flat ground to a small meadow called Pangboche, where we have lunch. Continue to hike steeply over alpine slopes for another couple of hours to a small but beautiful lake at the base of the Langma La. Camp

Climb steeply over rocky ground to reach the Langma Lain just over two hours. En route we pass another lake.From Langma La we bid farewell of the Khangshung Valley and the impressive panorama of some of the world's highest mountains, then descend steeply four hours over rocky moraines and glaciated valleys. We follow the stream from camp down the Kharta Tsangpo valley along a well defined trail. We'll hike across grassy hillsides used for grazing animals and past villages. After two hours we reach the fork of the trail where we climbed to Shao La at the beginning of the trek. Cross the river below Yulba village and reach our riverside campsite where we started the trek. Camp

Drive 4-5 hours to Rongbuk monastery, the highest monastery in the world and a shrine dedicated to Everest, Hike up to the Everest Base Camp in order to witness Mt. Everest Face to Face after that we return back to Rongbuk to spend a night here under the world highest peak.

From today our cultural tour begins. We will drive to Shigatse on the newly paved road on Tibetan plateau. A most mesmerising drive along the way by explorig Tibetan unique villages. It takes 6 hours to get Shigatse. Shigatse is the second largest city and economical hub in Tibet. You will then visit Panchen Lama's throne the Tashilhungpo Monastery. Overnight at 3 Star Hotel.

You will first explore Gyantse city which is 90km far from Shigatse after exploring Kubum and Palchor chod monastery then the fantastic Yamdrok (Turquise Lake) then you will head toward Lhasa city. Overnight at 3 star Hotel.

Full day guided tour in Lhasa. In the morning visit Potala, which was originally constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet, and later expanded and served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas as well as the religious-political nexus of traditional Tibet? In the afternoon visit Jokhang monastery, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where thousands of pilgrims come for worship every day. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet. Walk on the Barkhor street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties

It is another full day sightseeing in Lhasa, In the morning visit Drepung monastery the sacred land of Gelug Sect., which was established in 1416 and the second, third and fourth Dalai Lama once resided in. Afterwards visit Norbulinka, the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas. In the afternoon visit Sera monastery, which was created in 1419 and has always been an important Buddhist seminary. As rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is also called “the court of wild rose”. Today still 200 lamas live in there. The "Buddhism Scriptures Debate" in Sera is very famous.

Today you have full day free for your personal purposes.

You free until your airport time after that you will be dropped off to airport to connect your flight to Home. See you again!

You will be staying at  good reviewed  3 star in Lhasa, Shigatse and Gyantse if you prefer better hotel there is always option to upgrade the hotel and if you prefer to get booked own prefer hotel we are always ready to book for you. In Kyirong and Shegar will be Guest house it is a local guesthouse on twin sharing basis with attached bath please keep in mind that it is guest house and do not expect fancy or camping can be prefered instead. There will be camping during trekking period. Our camping tents are well maintained two men tents for group members, dining and kitchen tents along with kitchen table and other necessary equipements. 

Altitude Problem and Physical Fitness Required

It is a easy trekking, There is no level of physical fitness is required, everyone could join on the trek. It would be more helpful if you have previous trekking experience as the trail follows average 4200m one should prepare acordingly. We also advise our guest(s) to consult their doctor for vaccination and other medical requirements before taking the trip. Regular exercise, jugging, stretching and medication or yoga may be good idea before taking the trip.

Meals 

We provide hygenic full board food prepared by our own experienced cook during trekking. All meals during trekking and only breakfast during the driving or touring sessions are included in this trip. We are expected to pay for lunches and dinners in the city in Lhasa on our own. Breakfast will be taken in the same place we stay the night. Similar arrangements can also be made for dinner. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination(s). It is advisable to budget Yuan 60 to Yuan 100(USD10 to USD16) for lunch and dinner in a single day. Only basic meal choices like Tibetan bread and tsampa porridge will be available in remote locations. Freshly cooked full board food will be served by trained and experienced cooks on full-board basis during camping.

Recommended Clothing & Accessories

As the tempreture varies greatly between day and night (from Max. 20 degrees celcius to Min. -10 degrees celcius) one should prepare accordingly. Woolen gloves, Balaclava, Sun hat, Thermal wear, Water bottle, Woolen sockes, Personal Towel, Light and Warm parka Jacket, Sunglasses, Sun Cream, Torch with extra batteries, Muffler, Mask, Raincoat, Sweater, T-Shirt, Sleeping bag and comfortable walking shoes are recommended for Ganden to Samye Trekking.

Travel Insurance

Full travel insurance coverage for medicine, Helicopter evacuation, if in case of immergency, lost of belongings and trip cancilation is strongly recommended for this trip.
